I first saw one of these filter coffee makers at an American friends house. She has one of these coffee makers that belonged to her parents in the 50's and I had never seen anything like it in the UK before. The glass part is made by Pyrex with a collar made of wood tied with a leather cord and bead. It is a good practical size that will hold 4 to 6 cups of coffee and fit a standard large filter paper cone in the top.
