Traditional coiled baskets used by artisan bakers to prove their loaves prior to baking. By proving dough upside down in a well floured banneton, it creates the ideal environment for sourdough, in particular, to rise. A textured imprint forms on the surface of the loaf when baked. Bannetons are not used in the oven.
